Want to volunteer in your community?

Volunteers are an important part of the Pioneer Medical Center team. The activities department offers opportunities that utilize a wide range of skills and talents. The simple act of giving your time can make a big difference someone’s day!

There are many ways you can spend time with the residents; here are a few things you may do while volunteering: 

  • Decorating– Do you have a creative side? We love to celebrate the season! You could assist with seasonal decorating!
  • Group socials–You could assist with holiday gatherings, birthday parties, pie socials, etc.
  • Musical entertainment–PMC residents love music! You could share your talent or enjoy a show with the residents.
  • One-on-one visits– You could spend valuable time with a resident by visiting them to play cards, read, look at photographs, etc.
  • Outdoor activities–You could spend time taking a resident outside showing them flowers, helping them garden, visiting the gazebo or walking around the building.
  • Scheduled activities–You could assist with bingo, board games, sport games, crafts, etc.

How do I become a volunteer?

To become a volunteer you complete a short application that provides us with your skills, hobbies and interests to better match you with residents and activities you will enjoy. Once your application in submitted you will attend and orientation with the activities supervisor.

Spending time with the elderly can be very rewarding! They have lived very full lives and have lots of stories to share.
