In our acute care setting, patients can receive active but short-term treatment for a severe injury or episode of illness or for an urgent medical condition. Acute care can also be the day to day health care delivered by and overseen by a health care provider.
At Pioneer Medical Center, patients who no longer require acute services but are in need of additional short term rehabilitation and/or skilled nursing care may be eligible for swing bed services. This service often bridges the gap for patient who no longer need acute care but do require rehabilitative services prior to their discharge to their home. Swing care usually involves a multi-disciplinary approach, such as occupational and speech therapy, that puts the patient back on the road to independence.
The Pioneer Medical Center’s Laboratory offers many general laboratory tests including complete blood counts, comprehensive metabolic panels, thyroid testing and prostate–specific antigen (PSA) testing. PMC uses Billings Clinic as a reference lab for testing that is not performed internally. The PMC also offers random drug and breath alcohol testing for various companies by appointment only. Random testing is conducted on Tuesday through Thursday. The laboratory’s hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Laboratory staff is on call after hours for emergency and clinic support.
The Pioneer Medical Center’s Radiology Department uses state-of-the-art imaging equipment that is managed by board certified Radiologic Technologists and Radiologists resulting in accurate and safe diagnoses.
