Resident Assistant- Assisted Living

Pioneer Medical Center is a 25-bed critical access hospital, essentially the county hospital for Sweet Grass County, Montana: Population 3700. We are in a beautiful valley along the Yellowstone River, between three mountain ranges, just north of Yellowstone National Park. We serve our neighbors (ranchers, skilled trades people and active retirees) and the many tourists who come here on their way to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, or to fish the Yellowstone, hike, bike, hunt or just get away from overcrowded places. Big Timber is a vibrant and welcoming small town, an hour from Bozeman and Billings. Our schools are highly rated, with high community support.

Pioneer Medical Center has an immediate opening for a full and part-time Resident Assistants (RA) to join our assistant livings patient care team.

Resident Assistant Job Description

Resident Assistant’s assist our residents who are functionally, physically, and or socially impaired and need 24-hour oversight. The CNA’s / Resident Assistant’s role is to assist residents with those activities of daily living that they are unable to perform without help, always fostering residents’ independence and freedom of choice. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of the Pioneer Medical Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

3. Participates in in-services, projects or committees as assigned.

4. Assists with quality assurance programs when indicated.

5. Assists in training of new staff.

Qualifications:

1. Must be able to think, act, and intervene independently in both routine and emergency situations. Must be self-motivated and function as an “in charge person.”

2. Must be able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.

3. Must be able to work flexible hours and/or shifts (including holidays) and participate in holiday activities.

Working Conditions:

1. Exposed to body fluids, infection, odors, and behavior of residents.

2 Exposed to chemicals/cleaning solutions.

Physical Demands:

1. Must be able to lift/push up to 40 pounds.

2. Must be able to walk two miles daily.

3. Must be able to go up and down stairs.

4. Must be able to lift, carry, stand, bend, squat, crawl, reach, and kneel using proper body mechanics for sustained periods of time.

5. Must be able to use stepladder for changing light bulbs and hanging seasonal décor.

6. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

7. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability to cope with the physical, mental, and emotional stress of this position.
