Assisted Living Supervisor

Boulder Meadows Assisted Living Facility is a 12-unit independent living facility, located in Sweet Grass County, Montana: Population 3700. We are in a beautiful valley along the Yellowstone River, between three mountain ranges, just north of Yellowstone National Park. We serve our neighbors (ranchers, skilled trades people and active retirees) and the many tourists who come here on their way to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, or to fish the Yellowstone, hike, bike, hunt or just get away from overcrowded places. Big Timber is a vibrant and welcoming small town, an hour from Bozeman and Billings. Our schools are highly rated, with high community support.

Pioneer Medical Center and Boulder Meadows Assisted Living Facility has an immediate opening for a full-time Assisted Living Supervisor to join our resident care team.

PURPOSE/DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Directs and supervises the delivery of resident care in the Boulder Meadows Assisted Living facility. The Supervisor is to assist residents with those activities of daily living that they are unable to perform without help, always fostering residents’ independence and freedom of choice. Develops and updates policies and procedures. Oversees the facility’s Quality Improvement program. Serves as an advocate for the residents of the facility and ensures the facility strives to meet their needs. Works collaboratively with DON, Department Managers, and Medical Staff to ensure high quality of care is being delivered. Maintains compliance with all federal and state regulations that pertain to operating an Assisted Living facility.

DESCRIPTION

1. Supports and models behaviors consistent with Pioneer Medical Center’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.

2. See ALF RA/CNA job description for duties during working shifts. As part of administrative time and responsibility hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and evaluates staff to ensure the provision of high-quality services to residents in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of assisted living.

3. Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of resident care.

4. Plans and delegates work assignments, implementing an effective scheduling process to ensure adequate staffing on a 24-hour basis; working floor shifts a minimum of 2x per week. Fills in on an as needed basis when unable to fill shifts. Available via phone call for needs, concerns, facility issues, etc.

5. Facilitates and encourages family involvement with residents. Serves as families’ liaison to the facility.

6. Coordinates in-service education and staff development.

7. Assists with the development and management of Boulder Meadows’ budget.

8. Identifies and anticipates problems concerning safety and infection control issues and initiates appropriate action. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance.

9. Demonstrates positive, supportive, and caring behaviors in communication with residents, families, visitors, physicians, staff, and all others. Considers and bases care appropriately on the age and cultural background of the resident.

10. Conducts staff meetings on a regular basis.

11. Monitors and maintains records reflecting residents’ physical and mental condition. Reports significant changes in a resident’s condition to their physician.

12. Develops and updates annually, Boulder Meadows’ policies and procedures.

13. Provides marketing committee with information to market ALF to increase census.

14. Oversees Quality Improvement activities. Maintains infection control and incident/accident reports and reports on the facility’s “Dashboard Report”.

15. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency safety standards as it relates to the environment, employee, and patient/resident safety.

16. Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development.

17. Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· High school graduate or equivalent; college degree desirable.

· Currently holds or is able to obtain a MT Assisted Living Administrator certification within six (6) months of hire.

· CPR certified.

· Previous management experience is desirable.

· Work experience providing ADLs to residents is desirable

· Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Lift 50 pounds and assist with lifting and transporting of residents.

· Frequently stand, sit, lift, bend, push, and move intermittently during working hours

· Normal resident care environment in a Category A assisted living setting.
