Healthy Montana Kids
HMK is a free or low-cost health coverage plan. The plan provides health coverage to eligible Montana children and teenagers up to age 19. A child can qualify for HMK based on family size and income. For example, an average family of four can make up to $55,875 and still qualify for this health insurance program. There are no pre-existing condition limitations and total co-payments for each benefit year will not exceed $215 per family.
You can apply for Healthy Montana Kids through Pioneer Medical Center by calling 932-4603 and asking to speak with Gail or Seanna. They can answer your questions, provide you with an application, and assist you with the application process. Applications for HMK are also available online at hmk.mt.gov or you can call (877)-543-7669 to receive one by mail. Healthy Montana Kids covers many health care services including clinic, hospital and emergency visits, lab and x-ray services, prescription drugs, and surgical services. They also provide some dental, vision, and hearing coverage. Applications are accepted throughout the year so don’t wait to get your children the health care coverage they need. We can help!

United Blood Services – Find The Hero In You!
Hearts & Hands Hospice To Sponsor 2012 Blood Drives In Big Timber
Past donors will receive a phone call to set up an appointment. New donors and walk-in donors are always welcome and very much appreciated. Every effort will be made to accommodate anyone who would like to donate, however, appointment times will be honored before walk-in times. To make an appointment call Robertta at 932-6529 or visit unitedbloodservices.org and become a Hero.
To prepare for your donation please consider the following information. Your donation, from registration through refreshments, will take approximately one hour. During registration you will be required to present a photo identification card; without i.d. you will not be permitted to donate blood. Drink plenty of fluids, preferably water, the day of your donation and eat a hearty meal four hours prior to and after your donation. Make sure you know where you have traveled in the last three years and all the medications you are currently taking. Most medications will not prevent you from donating. Refreshments will be provided!
During the days following your donation United Blood Services determines your blood type and Rh factor, and also tests your blood for HIV and other viruses. They also perform a free cholesterol screening. You will be able to find your cholesterol results at the United Blood Services website within seven days of your donation. Most units of blood are separated into red blood cells, plasma, platelets and cryoprecipitate (used to treat or prevent bleeding). This enables the United Blood Service to help several different people with your donation. Please, find “The Hero In You”, donate blood!
